Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information QR ORCA collects through this website, why, and your rights. QR ORCA is run by AJS MEDIA (https://ajsmedia.com), the “data controller”.
What we collect
- Your email address, if you ask to be told about our launch.
- The date and time of your request and of your confirmation, and a random code that identifies your request. These show that you asked and confirmed.
- For security we keep a short-lived one-way hash of your IP address to limit repeated sign-ups. We do not store your IP address in our launch list. Our web host also keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
We use your email address only to (1) send one email asking you to confirm it and (2) email you when QR ORCA launches. Our legal basis is your consent, which you give by submitting your address and confirming it. We use hashed IP data and server logs for security and to prevent abuse, which is our legitimate interest. We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
How long we keep it
- Requests you never confirm are deleted automatically after 7 days.
- Confirmed addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- If you unsubscribe, we keep a record that you did so, so that we do not email you again.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run the website and send our emails for us (our web hosting and email providers), who may only act on our instructions. This site also loads fonts from Google Fonts and a script library from Cloudflare’s CDN, so those providers receive your IP address and browser details when your browser fetches those files. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, object to how we use it, and withdraw your consent at any time. Every email we send will contain an unsubscribe link, and you can also write to launch@qrorca.com. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Cookies
This site does not use cookies. See our Cookie Policy.
Changes
We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do.
